Welcome to our school

Get Set for the Olympics

Children at our school are getting involved in the count down to the Olympics this summer.  Higham is a member of the Get Set network and we are proud to display a special plaque outside the school entrance.

Gaynor Nash, who is the East Midlands Regional Co-Ordinator, came to talk to the school about the Get Set project.  Over the next few months the children will be taking part in various activities linked to the seven Olympic and Paralympic values.

Niamh, Kyle J., Henry, Edward, Michaella, Ewan and Ellie from Class 3 have been chosen to remember these values - Inspire, Equality, Courage, Determination, Excellence, Friendship and Respect. They will help the other children in the school to think about these important values.

The whole school is also looking forward to an exciting event in April when the children will be taking part in activiities linked to the Olympics at Leicester Cathedral.

International Day

The whole school enjoyed a special International Day organised by members of the King's Lodge.  They learned about different countries around the world and took part in dance sessions, sport, games and a variety of craft activities.

International School Award 2011

Over the past two years, the staff and children at Higham have worked extremely hard forming links with two other schools, one in the centre of Leicester and the other in Thane, India.  We have taken part in various joint projects and the children of Higham have enjoyed writing letters and learning from children of totally different backgrounds and cultures.

We were extremely pleased when we achieved the intermediate 'International School Award’ in 2010 for our hard work and have since applied for and achieved the full ‘International School Award.’  The British Council informed us that we had produced an impressive range of work and that the staff and children are a credit to the school and the wider community.  We are now accredited for three years as an ‘International School’ and will proudly display our certificate in the school for all to see.  In addition to this, we also have the scheme logo displayed on this website.
